LexisNexis-KL Bar Treasure Hunt

Prizes worth about RM20,000 are up for grabs in the fourth annual LexisNexis-KL Bar Treasure Hunt slated for Oct 25.

Jointly hosted by LexisNexis and the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee, the hunt, which is limited to 100 cars, has an open category for the public and a closed category for staff of LexisNexis and the Malaysian Bar. The entry fee per car is RM400 and RM320 respectively.

"Critical thinking is required as the sport challenges the participant to think out of the box while at the same time enhancing teamwork in a fun situation," LexisNexis managing director Phillip Karuppiah, and avid treasure hunter himself, said.

"From a business perspective, there is no better way for our staff to interact and strengthen the relationship with the legal fraternity, which is a core client base of LexisNexis," he said.

LexisNexis is an information solutions company that serves the legal, corporate, government and academic markets.

Last year's hunt saw 91 teams of 360 lawyers and corporate executives taking part.

"As in previous years, we will strive to reward at least three quarters of the teams with prizes, so everyone can go back with a smile," Phillip said, adding that proceeds from the hunt will be shared by both parties to be chanelled to charitable causes of their choice.

LexisNexis will donate its share to Philea Home, a shelter for underprivileged children, while the KL bar will direct the proceeds to either a charitable organisation or fund a social community project undertaken by its committee.

LK Bar Committee chairman Anand Ponnudurai said the Bar was pleased to work with LexisNexis on the event, following three previous hunts. "We strongly encourage Malaysian Bar members from other states, as well as chambering pupils to take part," he said.

Permanis Sdn Bhd will again be the sponsor, providing participants with the Revive Isotonic drink. To be flagged off from Subang Jaya at 7am, the hunt is expected to end at about 1pm in Damansara, where participants will be hosted to lunch and winners will receive their prizes.
